Dear ,

You are cordially invited to join the upcoming ACCA - BritCham webinar “Optimising scenario analysis for a sustainable future” to be held on Thursday, 30th Jun 2022.

Overview
Businesses, society and the planet depend on each other. The way organisations manage its key resources and relationships affect not just economies and societies but the lives and well-being of future generations. The science on climate change is clear – with compelling evidence and all too obvious signs. The likelihood, magnitude and timing of climate-related risks and opportunities affecting an entity are often complex and uncertain.

Users of general purpose financial reporting need to understand the resilience of business’s strategy (including its business model) to climate change, factoring in the associated uncertainties. Scenario analysis is becoming increasingly well established as a tool to help businesses and investors to understand the potential effects of climate change on business models, strategies, financial performance and financial position.

The Climate Exposure Draft, which was released by the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) in late Mar 2022, proposes that a company uses climate-related scenario analysis to assess its climate resilience.

In this webinar, we are pleased to invite ACCA’s Global Forum for Governance, Risk and Performance: Satarla CEO and co-founder, Dr Sarah Gordon and Ms Jane Walde, FCCA, independent risk consultant for the Holistic Risk Practice, Satarla Associate to share how businesses can put uncertainty into context and be better prepared for emerging risks, including the physical, transition and business risks related to climate change. The presentations will be followed by a practical Q&A session moderated by Rachael Johnson, ACCA’s head of risk management and corporate governance, active member of Accountancy Europe (AcE) Corporate Governance Policy Group, and the Corporate Governance Committee of OECD Business and Industry Advisory Committee (BIAC). The webinar will allow you to explore how risk management, accountancy, and the latest developments in environmental, social and governance (ESG) can lead to a more robust and effective strategy for businesses - including practical way to develop climate-related scenario analysis. You will be able to take away how to gain a deeper understanding of the different manifestations of potential opportunities and threats that matter to your organisations most, so you can make better informed decisions and take proactive action.
