The Central Economic Commission in Vietnam identified that with increasing urbanization, the development of smart cities in Vietnam is seen as the right direction for cities.

Smart Cities development has been identified one of the biggest sectors in Vietnam in recent years. To date, 41 out of 63 provinces and centrally-run cities in Vietnam have developed projects on smart cities of various scale.
